Purpose of a Chapter

A Chapter is composed of a group of Floor Covering Installers and Industry related individuals who reside in a geographic area (Western PA., Eastern Ohio and Northern WVA) which enables them to hold meetings at regular intervals.

Chapters offer professionals the opportunity to share their expertise, expand their knowledge, exchange ideas and attempt to solve problems in an association with their peers on a local level. The purpose of the organization would be to promote education, expand membership involvement in the community, promote the CFI on a local level, and provide prospective membership for the international organization encouraging certification of individual installers and sales associate according to skill and knowledge.

The CFI Chapters form an unequaled partnership between Certified Installers and supporting Associates unheard of in the industry before CFI began promoting this attitude upon its inception in 1993. Look for CFI and the local CFI Chapters to pave new roads with PRIDE:

Professionalism
Responsibility
Integrity
Dependability
Education

The CFI Chapters goal: achieving unparalleled consumer confidence and satisfaction.
Promote installers who are willing to upgrade their skills and install according to industry standards.
Promote the installer who strives for customer satisfaction.
Promote pride in the trade and elevate installation from a “job” to a profession.
Promote the installer who recognizes that appearance, attitude and people skills add to their work.
Provide training programs for apprentices and demonstrate new installation techniques to the members.
Provide the consumer with a “reference.” If they use a CFI Professional, they will get a quality installation.
Develop better communications between retailers, manufacturers, distributors and installers.
Develop and train a team of qualified installers to assist others in forming CFI Chapters in their areas, which will promote quality workmanship.
Certify those installers who are willing to make a commitment to their trade.

 How does one get certified?

Participate in the CFI Certification Weekend.

 What is CFI?

CFI is the Certified Floorcovering Installer’s Association, a non-profit organization founded in 1993 by Jim Walker, of Kansas City, Missouri, an installer himself, and owner of Walker’s Inc., a large installation house that employs approximately 50 installers fulltime. The CFI was formed to recognize and certify those installers who believe that consumer satisfaction and increased profitability are ultimate goals of their work.

Why should an installer be certified?

1.      Earn more $$ per square yard

2.      Learn from nation wide installers how to do it better and faster.

3.      Receive opportunities for work thru CFI referral network.
